Pink & Glitter

Because "big girls don't have themed birthday parties"...
A small cake for the birthday girl and queen-sized cupcakes for her friends - all pink and glittery as requested!

Jack's Big Music Show

This little girl loves Jack's Big Music Show. I just found a picture from the show online, used piping gel to transfer it to the cake, and colored it in with buttercream. I love the colors!

Scooby Doo

The picture was drawn by hand, transferred onto the cake, and filled in with buttercream.

Buggy Birthday Cupcakes

This was for a little girl's 1st birthday party - with a buggy theme, obviously! There were 40 cupcakes with a mix of flavors. The bugs are all buttercream icing, except for the wings (fondant) and the antenna (the little things you're supposed to put in the middle of icing flowers - whatever they are called!). This was a lot of fun to do and I think they turned out so cute!

Bridal Shower Cake

For a bridal shower - the wedding colors were green & ivory. The cake was yellow with strawberry-cream cheese filling and buttercream icing. The flowers are royal icing.

Pregnant Sisters

Another shower for my 2 sisters! The green & pink match the "Mod Mom" theme of the party.

The sisters are made on fondant - and I quickly learned that people are much harder to make than animals!! I wanted them to be simplistic, but frustration and fatigue made them even more so than planned. I made myself a mold for the face shape by pressing my daughter's Barbie doll face into fondant and letting it harden for several days. The larger layer is yellow cake with strawberry-cream cheese filling and the smaller is chocolate with chocolate pudding filling.

Little Princess

They went with a princess theme for Courtney's 1st birthday party. The cake is covered in buttercream and the tiara is made of fondant and brushed with silver pearl dust.

Ducky Cake

This was made for a girl who loved rubber duckies. Her family found the small candles and asked that I use them on the cake. The faucet, handles, and towel are all fondant. Writing was done with edible marker - I LOVE them! Faucet and handles brushed with pearl dust to give them some shine.

Froggie Cake

This is for my other sister's shower and is made to match the nursery.

It was a yellow cake with strawberry-cream cheese filling. Iced in buttercream (though cream cheese icing tastes good too). Frog, butterfly, and snail are all fondant.

Farm Cake

This was for my sister's baby shower - the nursery has a farm theme.

OK - so this didn't turn out quite like I wanted. The stand-up cake pan (from Wilton) created a cake that, not matter what I tried, did not stand up on its own. That, combined with me waiting till the last minute to make it, made it very difficult to decorate. I was close to throwing it out the window so I guess this is a better alternative. Everyone still liked the overall loook of it, which made me feel a little better. I really like the animals though!

3rd Baby Cake

We threw a couples shower for our friends who are having an unexpected #3. It was fun to get together and help them load up on diapers!

The cake was chocolate and white with buttercream icing.

Super Girl

Maya wanted a "Super Girl" cake for her 3rd birthday party cake. I created my own image of what I thought she should look like from an idea I found online. (Most Super Girl images you find online are NOT 3 year old cake material, ya know!) It was all just drawn with buttercream icing. She LOVED it!

SHREK!

Colby and his Shrek's swamp cake!
The stump house is made of stacked 6 in. cakes. The trees are ice cream cones covered with icing leaves. The sign is a graham cracker with buttercream writing.
Fondant Shrek, Donkey, and rocks.

I played around with the Wilton Color Mist for the green patches on the cake. That stuff is so easy to use and a total time saver, while giving a cool effect.
The kids had fun eating the trees, rocks, "Beware" sign and Shrek's body parts.

Jungle Cake

This was for a Bindi, The Jungle Girl themed party.
The little girl's favorite color is green so we decided that was the right color for the bow, which was made of fondant.
Iced with buttercream. Fondant animals and bow.

Lightning McQueen

Just made from a Wilton character pan and iced with buttercream. Those pans make it so easy to get a cute cake without tooo much effort!

Doggy Birthday Cake

This was my first birthday cake for a dog's birthday. It was actually more pressure! For a child's birthday, if the kid is happy so is the parent. You don't have that same luxury with dogs!
The dogs are made of fondant and the rest is buttercream. Top layer is yellow with vanilla pudding and bottom is chocolate with cookies & cream filling.

Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese frosting. The frosting isn't as easy to work with, but it was just something simple for the family Easter dinner.

I'm becoming a big fan of brown icing! I like the combination with the blue and cream colors. The little footprints turned out cuter than I thought. I really like this cake!

High School Musical-ish

A friend of a friend's daughter's birthday cake. It was a High School Musical theme so we decided just to keep the color scheme and make it a fun little girl cake. I like the simplicity and bold colors. I hope she loved it!

Pink Baby Shower Cake

A simple baby shower cake! I like the pink & brown combination. The brown strip around the bottom is actually thick, brown ribbon. So FABULOUS!!
